At Lotus House, we are committed to providing a sanctuary for homeless LGBTQIA+ adults and youth that is not just a place of refuge but a space for healing, growth, and self-discovery. Our approach is rooted in principles of education and empowerment, honoring the divine nature of all individuals with unconditional love. We understand the unique needs and challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals who experience homelessness, often compounded by traumas associated with their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Rainbow Lotus Program stands as a testament to our commitment. It integrates a comprehensive range of services and support structures, specially designed for the LGBTQIA+ community:

• A Nurturing Environment: We provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for all LGBTQIA+ individuals, honouring their unique identities and experiences.
• Evidence-Based Therapy: We offer both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices and NA support groups.
• Community Support: We facilitate support groups that encourage positive interactions among LGBTQIA+ individuals and promote enrichment, education, and advocacy.
• Community Linkages: Our program includes linkages to other LGBTQIA+ agencies and encourages involvement with community activities for additional enrichment, advocacy, and support services.
• Support for LGBTQIA+ Youth: We coordinate with school liaisons and youth programs to identify and support LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness.
• Experienced Staff: Our team consists of diverse, sensitivity-trained, and well-informed administrative staff, resident managers, counselors, and resource coordinators, including alumni of the program.
• Community Education and Advocacy: As part of our commitment to change, we engage in community education and advocacy initiatives related to LGBTQIA+ homelessness.

Each participant’s journey is supported by personalized, individual counseling, tailored to their unique issues and challenges. In addition, they discover the support of peers and allies in our Rainbow Lotus support groups. Other program highlights include psychosocial education, field trips, social activities, and community engagement.
